We have a new addition to the conference this year, the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic Workshop, on 26 May 2021. This workshop is designed for current employees and volunteers with existing clinics that serve low income and underrepresented taxpayers, as well as for persons interested in establishing such programs in their countries. The workshop sessions include:
- Getting Started: Considerations in starting a Low Income Taxpayer Clinic;
- Operational Considerations: Beyond Start-up; and
- Tax Clinics and Systemic Advocacy.
On 27 to 28 May, we have three sessions each day that explore now the protection of taxpayer rights improve the quality of tax audits. We have an impressive and diverse roster of panelists who will address the following issues, among others:
- Foundational audit principles and applicable taxpayer rights;
- Audit selection techniques;
- Case studies in the conduct of tax audits;
- Cross-border cooperative audits and taxpayer rights;
- Impact of audits on future compliance; and
- Criminal investigations and civil tax audits.
Because this year we were planning to be in Europe with our conference, the conference time zone is Central Europe Summer Time (CEST). While that may make it very early for some of you, if you register for the conference, we will send you the recording the same day, so you won’t miss out on any discussions.
Another new feature this year is that PhD/LLM/JD students can register at a reduced rate. There are instructions on the registration site.
So! We are looking forward to “seeing” you at the online Athens conference in May!
All the best,
Nina
